School Description

We aim to support our young people re-engage with learning and raise attainment , we offer both Primary and secondary education as well as day education only placements . The key principles of Moore House Academy, Bathgate and Moore House Primary Dumfermline underpin all learning and engagement for our young people and their individual learning needs. Dyadic Developmental Practice supports our ethos and staff adopt a PACE approach when interacting with young people (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy).

A 24 hour curriculum ensures learning takes place beyond the classroom across a range of situations and activities young people experience during a typical day. This includes school holiday activities programmes (maintaining peer relationships), Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme, Dynamic Youth and Youth Achievement Awards.

Initial assessments help identify young people’s strengths, interests and barriers to learning, allowing us to create personalised pathways and timetables. Small class sizes, very good adult-child ratios and an experienced ASN teaching team, means that young people benefit from an individually tailored and flexible approach to learning.
