Summary:

Are you considering or do you already have idevices in your school? Are you confident that you know all of the functions of the device?

Using iPads can be a way of interesting reluctant readers, and they can be very powerful when used for teaching and learning but finding effective, engaging literacy apps in the maze of the App Store can be problematic and very time consuming. Some apps can be fairly expensive and it’s hard to judge which are worth spending your budget on. This course will help you to be confident that you know how best to utilise the features of the device to suit your needs, working from basic functions to expert knowledge.  Many literacy apps will be showcased, interactive book apps and apps that allow you to encourage students to write creatively especially.

Bev is an experienced consultant who has provided training for librarians across the country.  She is “happiest when combining her twin passions for books and technology”.  Further information about Bev’s work can be found here.

This course will give participants an insight into:

  • iPad basics & set up, notetaking, finding apps, cloud storage etc
  • Interactive book apps for any age & apps for reading promotion
  • Creative writing Apps

Participants may bring their own iPAD though this is not essential.

Please register as soon as possible and by Friday 13 January at the latest.
