This popular course will cover a range of topics relevant to staff considering taking on a promoted role such as a Head of Department/Head of Year/Head of House etc. with responsibility for leading a team.   

Day 1 will consider:

  • Adopting appropriate leadership styles
  • Building and managing a team
  • Delegation and motivation
  • The first steps of change management
  • Addressing underperformance
  • Conflict management
  • Establishing a positive, learning centred culture
  • Introduction to coaching approaches 

Day 2 will take a look at Preparing for Promotion:   DAY 2 TAKES PLACE ON Wednesday January 25.

  • Self-evaluation – a Strengths-Focused Approach to Team Success
  • Interview preparation
  • Leadership in practice – experiences of recently promoted staff 

Day 1 will be led by Edward Gildea, a highly experienced and dynamic educational consultant.  Day 2 will be led by Katie Banham of Learning to Flourish, together with input from recently promoted staff in SCIS schools. 

Each group is limited to 25 places. 

Delegates will be expected to attend both days of the course and will be invoiced for both.  When you register for Day 1, you will automatically be registered for Day 2.                            

Please note that it is not possible to switch between blocks. This course fills quickly and early booking is recommended.
