School Description
East Park, a registered charity based in Maryhill, Glasgow, has provided Education and Supported Accommodation services to children and young people with additional support needs, including autism, since 1874.
East Park School provides residential and day placements for children and young people aged 5 - 18 with complex additional support needs. All pupils have a significant learning difficulty coupled with other potential barriers to learning such as physical disability, sensory impairment, ADHD, Autism and challenging behaviour. We currently support about 50 children and young people and their families across all our services, including the School, Intensive Support Service, Supported Accommodation and Workmates, which provides building-based support for young people aged 17 - 25.
All our learners require specialist environments and strategies in order to access a rich and purposeful curriculum. We provide comprehensive learning environments and opportunities through:
· Personal Support Plans
· Individual and group teaching and learning
· A curriculum based on the Curriculum for Excellence
· Outdoor learning
· Links with local business and community organisations
· Specialised resources and equipment
· Use of community facilities and amenities
All of our children and young people require a high staff ratio to enable them to successfully access the full curriculum and the community
