Event Description

Updates to the ICO (Information Commissioner’s Office) guidance in recent years have boosted the number of DSAR/SAR requests.  This trend is likely to continue.  Increasingly, they are made by pupils and parents, as well as staff.  Dealing with these is time-consuming.  Getting it wrong, and then dealing with a formal complaint, is even more time-consuming.

This training is aimed at colleagues with practical understanding of the ‘right of access’ and the ICO guidance on handling DSAR/SAR, who are looking for high-level advice on ways to improve efficient handling of responses to DSAR/SAR and minimise complaints.

We are delighted to welcome Sean Morris, Legal Manager at Navigator, to deliver this session.  Sean trained as a solicitor in the public sector and specialises in advising organisations on data protection law, with clients ranging from commercial businesses to independent schools and charities across the UK. He regularly delivers training on data protection issues, with published work appearing in Business Insider, HR Network, Daily Business, Scottish Affairs, and the Industrial Law Journal.
