Vacancy Description / Summary

Merchiston Castle School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Graduate Assistant to take on a variety of duties in a busy boarding school. As Scotland’s only independent boarding school for boys, Merchiston’s genuine focus is on the needs of each pupil and understanding how to help him thrive. With the support of our caring community, each boy is encouraged to unearth his talents, pursue excellence and flourish in myriad ways.

The Graduate Assistant will be expected to make a full contribution to the co-curricular life of the School and to fulfil other roles which may arise in the delivery of the total curriculum. This is a residential role and the successful candidate will also take on the role of a Residential House Tutor in one of our boarding Houses.

This is a fixed-term post for the 2022/2023 Academic year.

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The successful candidate will also be required to register with the SSSC.

We can offer a comprehensive benefits package including accommodation on site, high quality free lunches and a range of other additional employee discounts.

For further details of the position, please view the Job Description and Person Specification on the School website.

Please e-mail your completed Application Form, along with an Equal Opportunities Monitoring Form and Self-Declaration Form to hr@merchiston.co.uk

Applications will be considered as they are received and shortlisted candidates may be invited for interview prior to the official closing date. Merchiston reserves the right to appoint ahead of the closing date and thus early applications for this role are advisable.

Interested candidates can contact the Deputy Head, Danny Rowlands, at drowlands@merchiston.co.uk, should they wish to discuss this post further informally.

Closing date for applications: Monday 26 September, 5pm. The date for first round of interviews will be confirmed thereafter.
